Sri Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, a four-time member of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly (1985-2003) from Siddipet Constituency of Medak District, served as Minister and Deputy Speaker. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Karimnagar in 2004 and from Mahbubnagar in 2009. He was Union Minister for Labour and Employment from 2004 to 2006.
Relinquished the post of Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh in 2001 and floated Telangana Rashtra Samithi to fight for the creation of separate State of Telangana. Known for his oratory skills with a mixture of Telugu and Urdu words, he galvanised people’s support by highlighting the injustices meted out to the region in the undivided State of Andhra Pradesh was formed in 1956. His tenacity, perseverance and sense of timing have earned the admiration of his critics also.
In the General Elections, Sri K. Chandrashekar Rao led the party to power and became the first Chief Minister of Telangana State on 2nd June, 2014.
Born in 1954 in Chintamadaka Village of Medak District and did M.A. (Literature) from Osmania University, married Smt. Shobha and blessed with one son and one daughter.
