Andhra Pradesh Fire Services is a state government department functioning under the control of Home Department. A.P. Fire Services is one of the largest Fire Services in India with a network of 233 fire stations serving a population of 76.10 millions spread over 210 urban areas and 26586 rural areas. In Khammam district having 7 fire stations serving a population of about 27 lakhs spread over 9 urban areas and 46 rural areas.

LEGISLATION

The A.P. Fire services act 1999 came into force from 1.2.2001 to ensure fire safety in Andhra Pradesh State and render efficient service in fire protection and fire prevention. The approval of rules for implementing the act is under active consideration of the Govt.

ORGANISATIONAL SET UP

The Fire Services Department functions under the control of the Home Department of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The Director General Fire Services is the Head of the Department. The District Fire Officer is the incharge of the district.
